Arvind Kejriwal welcomes CBSE’s decision to cancel class Xth exams, postpone XIIth exams

New Delhi, (the states. news) Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday welcomed CBSE’s decision to cancel class 10 board exams and postpone class 12 exams amid Covid-19 surge, saying it will provide a great relief to lakhs of students and their parents.

The AAP convenor tweeted, “I am glad that the exams have been cancelled/postponed. This is a great relief for lakhs of students & their parents.”

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said, “I am happy that Class X exams have been cancelled, although for Class XII, it has only been postponed.’

Mr Sisodia, who also holds Education portfolio said, ‘I appeal to the Central govt to promote Class XII students on the basis of internal assessment & remove their anxiety.”

Aam Admi Party posted on its twitter handle, ‘Good News! Central Govt finally bows down to the legitimate demands of students. #CBSEboardexam2021 has been Cancelled/Postponed.’

Mr Kejriwal and the Deputy Chief Minister of the National capital had yesterday urged the Centre to cancel board exams, saying the examination centres can become covid hotspots.

The decision was taken at a high-level meeting which was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to review the examinations to be held at various levels in view of the developing Corona situation.

Earlier, the CBSE Class 10 and 12 board exams were scheduled to commence from May 4.    (uni) (media saheb.com)
