Make the COVID medicines available in rural areas for symptomatic patients : Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel

Raipur (the states. news) Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel today chaired a virtual meeting of all the Jila Panchayat presidents from his residence office and discussed in detail the COVID control and prevention measures as well as the current update on COVID situation in rural areas. Chief Minister Mr. baghel said that we won the last battle against COVID-19 crisis with collective effort and public participation. And we would win the ongoing battle against this virus once again with precautions and public cooperation. 

He gave instructions to ensure that the patients with early symptoms of COVID infection immediately start the course of medicines recommended by Health Department. Chief Minister said that the Health Department has started supplying COVID medicines in rural areas of the state as well. Prescriptions and medicines (COVID kits) are being made available to the symptomatic patients with the help of field staff and Mitanins under Health Department. Home Minister Mr. Tamradhwaj Sahu, Panchayat and Rural Development and Health Minister Mr. T.S. Singhdev, Chief Secretary Mr. Amitabh Jain, Additional Chief Secretary Health, Mrs. Renu G. Pillai, Panchayat and Rural Development Department Secretary, Mr. Prasanna R., Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. Siddharth Komal Singh Pardeshi, Director Panchayat Mr. Mohammad Kaiser Abdul Haque were also present in the meeting. District Collectors, Jila Panchayat Presidents and CEOs and other public representatives attended the meeting through video conferencing.

In his address to the meeting, Chief Minister said that as soon as a person starts feeling symptoms of cold, cough, fever and COVID infection, he/she should start taking the prescribed medicines immediately without waiting for the report of COVID test. He also appealed the district panchayat presidents and rural representatives to make people aware and informed about these immediate action to be taken on initial appearance of the symptoms. In the meeting, Chief Minister interacted with each and every District Panchayat President and took note of the current scenario of COVID cases in their districts, updates on health check-up of workers and people coming from other states, arrangement of quarantine center, employment oriented operations and other related issues. 

In view of COVID situation and livelihood crisis, Chhattisgarh Government has decided to allot the lump sum stock of food grains to ration shops for May and June month free of cost. He directed the officials concerned to conduct MNREGA works after taking suggestions from villagers.  Chief Minister said that this would provide consistent employment to people in rural areas and also build the infrastructure. He also gave instructions to make proper arrangements for clean drinking water supply in rural areas during summer season. He directed to upgrade the basic facilities in quarantine centers established in rural areas. 

Home Minister Mr. Tamradhwaj Sahu appealed district panchayat presidents and rural representatives to create public awareness and to motivate people for taking precautions to prevent spread of COVID infection. He said that caution is the biggest solution to prevent this infection. Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Mr. T.S. Singhdev said that 10 oxygen-equipped beds will be provided in each of the community health centers of the state, under Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel guidance. He also talked about supplying CT scan machines, Remedisivir injections to the districts as per their requirement. Minister Mr. Singhdev also directed the officials concerned to distribute job cards under MNREGA to provide employment to the workers coming from outside to the villages.
Chief Secretary Mr. Amitabh Jain directed Chief Executive Officers of the District Panchayats to keep people coming from outsidein the Quarantine Center of the village and conduct their COVID test. At the onset of the meeting, Mr. Prasanna R., Secretary, Panchayat and Rural Development Department gave powerpoint presentation on the action being taken  for prevention of corona infection and vaccination in rural areas.
