‘Malnutrition-Free Chhattisgarh Campaign’ to Be Launched Simultaneously

Raipur (thestates.news) Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai will bless more than 6,412 newly married couples from across the state during the state-level mass marriage ceremony organised under the Chief Minister Kanya Vivah Yojana on February 10. The weddings will be solemnised in accordance with various religious traditions and customary rites.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister will also inaugurate the “Malnutrition Free Chhattisgarh Campaign” at the state-level programme to be held at the Science College Ground in Raipur. In the first phase of the campaign, 40,000 malnourished children aged 6 months to 52 months will be covered. The campaign will begin from the Bastar division, covering the districts of Bijapur, Dantewada, Narayanpur and Sukma.

The programme will be presided over by Legislative Assembly Speaker Dr Raman Singh. Deputy Chief Ministers Shri Arun Sao and Shri Vijay Sharma, Union Minister of State Shri Tokhan Sahu, Women and Child Development Minister Smt Laxmi Rajwade, along with members of the Council of Ministers, Members of Parliament, MLAs and other public representatives, will be specially present at the event.

The main ceremony at the Science College Ground will be held from 11 am, during which 1,316 couples will be married according to different religious customs and traditions. Under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana, financial assistance of Rs. 35,000 will be transferred directly into each couple’s bank account, while Rs. 15,000 will be spent on wedding-related arrangements and gift materials. Couples from Balodabazar, Dhamtari, Durg, Mahasamund and Rajnandgaon districts will join the state-level programme online. In the remaining districts, mass marriage ceremonies will be organised at district headquarters, with the participation of concerned in-charge ministers and local public representatives.

Under the scheme, marriages will be solemnised according to Hindu rituals for 6,281 couples, Muslim rites for 3 couples, Christian rites for 113 couples, Buddhist rites for 5 couples, and traditional Baiga community customs for 10 couples across the state. Through the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana, the state government continues to provide dignified marriage opportunity to daughters from economically weaker families. This large-scale initiative strongly reflects the government’s commitment to social equality, harmony and people-centric welfare governance.
