Raipur (thestates.news)| Large number of enthusiastic students and faculties from Kalinga University took part in ‘Patriotic Run with Tiranga’ program on the occasion of 74th Republic Day Celebration 2023 organised by Dean Students Welfare Department of Kalinga University on Thursday. Program was followed by Republic Day celebration with unfurling of National Flag and Saraswati Puja on the occasion of Basant Panchami celebration at university campus.
The event included a run of about 4 kilometer which started at 7:00 am from Kalinga University campus to Gol Chowk, Kuhera and back. Vision of the event was to spread the message of national integrity and togetherness. National and International students of Kalinga University took part in the event with great enthusiasm. All the students and participants were given badges of Patriotic Run with Tiranga. The Run started with DJ songs playing patriotic songs and all the students were holding tricolor in their hands. Run was led by Vice Chancellor of Kalinga University Dr R Shridhar, Registrar Dr Sandeep Gandhi, Dean Student Welfare Dr Asha Ambhaikar, Dean Commerce and Management Dr Abhishek Tripathi, Sports Officer Dr Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, Dean Engineering Dr CP Jawahar, faculties Mrs Jasmin Joshi, Ms Shilpa Sharma, Dr Dhananjay Jain, Mr Sheikh Abdul Kadir and others.
After reaching Kuhera Gol Chowk a group picture was taken and snacks were distributed to the participants. The procession returned to campus at 8:00 am to take part in Republic Day celebration.
The celebration began with arrival of Chief Guest, Dr Bhawna Sirohi, Medical Director at Balco Medical Centre. Guest was welcomed by NCC cadets. Mrs Jasmin Joshi gave introduction of the guest and other dignitaries. Dr Smita Premanand, Department of Fashion Designing welcomed the guests and other dignitaries. Dr Bhawna Sirohi unfurled the National Flag with National Anthem in presence of Vice Chancellor- Dr R Shridhar, Registrar- Dr Sandeep Gandhi, Dean Student Welfare- Dr Asha Ambhaikar and others. Dr R Shridhar gave welcome speech and informed about the importance of the day and National festival. He emphasized that through education and research we all should work together for the prosperity of the country.
Dr Bhawna Sirohi, gave motivational speech and spoke about qualities of a good citizen like discipline, politeness, kindness, integrity, contribution towards society. She stressed that awareness on Cancer should be created so that society can be made cancer free. Program concluded with distribution of traditional sweets. Registrar Dr Sandeep Gandhi proposed vote of thanks.
Soon after the program Saraswati Puja was organized on the occasion of Basant Panchami the celebration took place at the reception area of Kalinga University in which all the participants took part and sweets were distributed after Puja rituals.
Perfect coordination was observed during the three programs organized back to back. Mr Pankaj Tiwari, Mr Arup Haldar of Training and Placement, Lt. Vibha Chandrakar, Mr Ayush, Dr Sanjeev Yadav, Mr Manish Singh, Dr Smita Premanand, Dr DM Sahu and other members, team members including Assistant Dean Students Welfare, Ms Nikita Joshi, Mohammed Yunus Rizvi, Toshan Tarak and others played crucial role in success of the program.
