Improvement in Education through MGNREGA in Gram Panchayat Peepalbahra

Interlocking Road Construction Leads to Educational Progress

Raipur (thestates.news) | Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) has brought revolutionary changes in the fields of rural development and social security in Chhattisgarh. The scheme aims not only to provide employment to the poor in rural areas but also to improve their quality of life. One such story is from Gram Panchayat Peepalbahra in the Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur district, where an interlocking road was constructed under MGNREGA, directly benefiting the students and teachers of the local school.

Initiation of Educational Transformation through MGNREGA
Peepalbahra, a village where access to schools and Anganbadi centres was extremely difficult for years, especially during the rainy season, faced significant challenges. The path from the main road to Majhapara Anganbadi and primary school was unpaved, making it nearly impossible for students and teachers to commute during monsoons. The situation worsened with mud and water clogging, hampering school activities. Eventually, this issue was resolved under the MNREGA scheme. The government sanctioned a total amount of Rs 8,69,571 to Gram Panchayat Peepalbahra for the construction of an interlocking road.

The primary objective of this project was to provide a safe and convenient route to Majhapara Anganbadi and primary school. As the construction began, smiles returned to the faces of the villagers, especially the children. The road construction was completed rapidly within a few months. This road now not only provides easy access for the students and teachers but has also brought several positive changes in their daily lives. What was once a muddy and waterlogged path during the rainy season is now a clean and beautiful road, making the commute to school much more convenient.
