An awareness session on Fundamental Rights organized byKalinga University in collaboration with the Legal Aid Cell and OutLawed India

Raipur (thestates.news) | On 14th September 2024, the Faculty of Law at Kalinga University, in collaboration with the Legal Aid Cell and OutLawed India, organized an awareness session on Fundamental Rights for secondary and higher secondary students. The event was held at two locations, at Govt.

Higher Secondary School, Rakhi, Naya Raipur from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM, and at Swami Atmanand School, Abhanpur from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM. The session at Govt. Higher Secondary School began with a welcome address by the school Principal and Kalinga University representatives. Mr Ranjan Kumar Ray (In-charge Legal Aid Cell) and Ms. Itishri Upadhyay, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Law at Kalinga University, addressed the session and its objectives, highlighting the importance of
Fundamental Rights.
Ms. Sanskriti A. Sahu, BALLB 3 rd Sem student presented a keynote speech on Fundamental Rights with a focus on gender equality. The following interactive session, led by Ms.
Tanishka Rao, BBALLB 3 rd sem student and Ms. Vanshika Chandrakar, BALLB 3 rd Sem student, included Q&A and role-playing scenarios. A group activity led by Ms. Anuradha
Sharma, BALLB 3 rd Sem student, involved discussing and presenting case studies, while Mr.
Ankit Sahu, BALLB 3 rd Sem student, led a group discussion on human rights violations. Mr.
Ranjan Kumar Ray and Ms. Itishri Upadhyay delivered the final remarks, summarizing major
topics.
The other session held at Swami Atmanand School, followed a similar structure starting with
a welcome address by the School Principal and Kalinga University representatives. Mr.
Ranjan Kumar Ray (In-Charge Legal Aid Cell) and Ms. Itishri Upadhyay outlined the
session’s goals. Ms. Sanskriti A. Sahu delivered the keynote presentation, which was
followed by an interactive session led by Ms. Tanishka Rao and Ms. Vanshika Chandrakar.
The group activity, guided by Ms. Anuradha Sharma, engaged students in practical
discussions on their rights while Mr. Ankit Sahu conducted a group discussion on the
relevance of Fundamental Rights in the present time. The session concluded with final
remarks by Mr. Ranjan Kumar Ray and Ms. Itishri Upadhyay, reflecting on the session’s
impact. At Kalinga University, the leadership—including the Registrar, Dr. Sandeep Gandhi, Dean
of Academic Affairs Dr. Rahul Mishra, and Dean of Faculty of Law Prof. (Dr.) Azimkhan

Under the guidance of Mrs. Saloni Tyagi Shrivastava (In-charge HoD, Faculty of Law) and
Mr. Ranjan Kumar Ray (In charge, Legal Aid Cell), the Legal Aid Cell plays a crucial role in
reaching out to the public, ensuring that knowledge of legal rights is accessible to all.
By promoting awareness and understanding of fundamental rights, Kalinga University aims
to empower individuals, foster a culture of responsibility, and contribute to a more informed
and engaged society.
