Pharmacists Day celebrated at Kalinga University

Raipur (thestates.news) | World Pharmacists Day is celebrated every year on September 25th, to honour the significant contributions that pharmacists make to global health. This annual event is
organized by the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), a partner of the World Health Organization (WHO), to highlight the indispensable role pharmacists play in building healthier communities and supporting healthcare systems worldwide.  The theme for 2024, ‘Pharmacists: Meeting Global Health Needs’, underscores how pharmacists are central to addressing diverse health challenges, including disease prevention, patient care, and medication access, particularly in underserved communities.

To mark World Pharmacists Day 2024, Kalinga University, Faculty of Pharmacy successfully celebrated World Pharmacist’s Day on 25 th September 2024. The event was organized to recognize pharmacists’ contributions to healthcare and to spread awareness of their crucial role in meeting global health needs.

The day was marked with a series of engaging events, including a Quiz, Poster, and Rangoli
competitions, which saw the enthusiastic participation of students. The Event was organized
under the guidance of Dr. Sandip Prasad Tiwari (Principal) Faculty of Pharmacy. The event was coordinated by Dr. Indu Lata Kanwar, Ms. Rashmi Sinha, Mr. Naimish Nanda, Mr. Mritunjay Bhanja with an organizing committee including Mr. Pranjul Shrivastava, Mr. Ayushman Roy, Mr. Smruti Ranjan Dash, Ms. Khushboo Gupta, Dr. Rupali Bharti Sao, and Ms. Rashmi Pandey.

The Quiz competition was one of the key attractions of the celebration. Teams from various
batches participated, showcasing their knowledge of pharmaceutical sciences, drug regulations, and current trends in global health. The quiz covered a wide range of topics such as: Pharmacy history and milestones, Pharmacology, drug interactions, healthcare advancement, Role of pharmacists in global health crises. The competition was conducted in multiple rounds, and the top three teams were awarded prizes.

Students expressed their creativity and ideas through the Poster competition, based on the
theme, “Pharmacist: Meeting Global Health Needs.” The posters were evaluated on the
basis of Creativity and Space Division, Detailing, Visual appeal and presentation.

The Rangoli competition added a vibrant cultural touch to the celebration. Teams of students created beautiful rangolis inspired by the theme, incorporating symbols of healthcare, the pharmaceutical industry, and global unity. The participants showcased their artistic talents while conveying powerful messages about the importance of pharmacists in ensuring global health and well-being.

Through the various competitions and activities, students not only gained a deeper understanding of the theme but also celebrated the profession of pharmacy. The event fostered a sense of pride in the role of pharmacists in meeting global health needs and emphasized their contribution toward building healthier communities worldwide.

The faculty and organizing committee expressed their gratitude to all the participants, guests,
and sponsors for making the event memorable and meaningful.
