Over 20 Villages to Get Year-Round Connectivity and Uninterrupted Traffic

Travel Distance to Garhwa and Nagar Untari to be Halved

Raipur  (thestates.news) |The construction of a high-level bridge on the Kanhar river connecting Sanawal area in Balrampur-Ramanujganj district of Chhattisgarh to Jharkhand is progressing rapidly. Once completed, the bridge is expected to provide immense relief to around 40,000 residents across 20 villages, enabling uninterrupted traffic throughout the year and significantly reducing travel distances.

Currently, residents of the Sanawal area cross the river daily to reach district headquarters Garhwa and block headquarters Nagar Untari and Dhurki in Jharkhand for purchasing, medical treatment, and other necessities. The new bridge will not only enhance connectivity but will also cut down travel distances to these cities by nearly half, benefiting the local economy and improving access to essential services.

The Public Works Department is constructing the bridge between Dhauli in Ramchandrapur block of Balrampur-Ramanujganj district and Balchaura in Dhurki block of Garhwa district at an estimated cost of Rs 15.20 crore. Of the 12 piers and two abutments planned, work on five piers and one abutment has already been completed. The remaining sub-structure work is progressing, and the superstructure work is expected to follow soon.

Deputy Chief Minister and Public Works Minister Shri Arun Sao has instructed officials to ensure timely completion of the project while maintaining construction quality. The department aims to complete the bridge by June this year.
