“Trainers’ Training Certification Course” on the Prevention of SexualHarassment Act, 2013” successfully concluded at Kalinga University

Raipur   (thestates.news) | The “Trainers’ Training Certification Course on the Prevention of Sexual
Harassment (POSH) Act, 2013,” organized by the Faculty of Law at Kalinga University in collaboration with the Indian National Bar Association (INBA), New Delhi, was a comprehensive and specialized online certification program aimed at educating and training participants on the legal and practical aspects of preventing sexual harassment in the workplace. This program, running for one month on every Saturday and Sunday, commenced in January 2025, and concluded in February 2025 via the Microsoft Teams platform, and it garnered an enthusiastic participation of over 200 participants from various sectors across India, including industry professionals, HR experts, academics, and corporate representatives.

The primary objective of the course was to provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to address and prevent sexual harassment in the workplace, in accordance with the POSH Act, 2013. The program was designed to educate participants on key aspects of the law, including employer accountability, establishing and functioning Internal Complaint Committees
(ICC), and implementing communication strategies for addressing and preventing harassment. Over 200 participants from across India, representing industries, HR professionals, academic institutions, and corporate sectors, attended the course. This large and diverse group reflected the widespread interest and commitment to tackling sexual harassment in the workplace.

The course featured a diverse range of experts who provided comprehensive insights into the Prevention of Sexual Harassment of Women at the Workplace (POSH). Mrs. Vinakshi Kadan Singh, Advocate at the Supreme Court, discussed the legal rights and responsibilities under the POSH Act, emphasizing workplace equality. Ms. Neetika Bajaj, Advocate at the Delhi High Court, focused on the various forms of sexual harassment, including physical, verbal, and non-verbal behaviors, and discussed legal consequences for offenders. Dr. Badrinath Srinivasan from Bharat Petroleum explained the role of the Internal Complaint Committee (ICC) and the legal framework surrounding POSH, including employer accountability and managing appeals. Ms. Heena Parveen from GD Goenka University covered communication skills and strategies for facilitating sensitive discussions on harassment, alongside designing effective POSH programs. Dr. Dakshita Sangwan provided practical guidance on implementing POSH initiatives and creating policies that ensure a harassment-free workplace.

The course was skillfully moderated by Dr. Savyasanchi Pandey, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Law, and Mr. Ranjan Kumar Ray, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Law, who ensured the smooth execution of the program. Their diligent efforts in organizing the course and managing its day-to-day activities were instrumental in its success, ensuring an enriching experience for all participants.
The program successfully empowered participants to become effective trainers on POSH. It equipped them with the tools and knowledge to design, implement, and evaluate policies and strategies that prevent sexual harassment in the workplace. The course also emphasized practical skills, legal knowledge, and communication techniques, ensuring that attendees are prepared to foster a positive, safe, and inclusive workplace culture.

This Trainers’ Training Certification Course was an important step towards fostering a deeper understanding of the POSH Act and creating a safer and more inclusive work environment for all.
