Health department provided relief to pharmacists
Raipur (thestates.news) | Chhattisgarh State Pharmacy Council has reversed its decision to increase fees for pharmacists’ registration and renewal, following a suggestion from Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal. The council had initially decided to hike fees on May 8, 2025, and implemented it from June 1, 2025. However, after acting on the advice of State Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal and in response to appeals from pharmacist and medical trade associations, Chhattisgarh State Pharmacy Council has decided to roll back the recent hike in registration and renewal fees. The decision was finalised at a special general meeting of the council held on Wednesday at New Circuit House Raipur.
Citing concerns raised by youth pharmacists and trader organizations, State Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal had earlier advised the Council to reconsider the increased fee structure in the broader interest of public and professional welfare.
In the July 02 meeting, Council members agreed that no hike would be implemented and that the previous fee structure will remain in force. The only revision approved was the restoration of the registration renewal fee to Rs 500, which had been temporarily reduced to Rs 300 during the COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, the council has also decided to refund the excess fees collected from pharmacists who paid the increased amount from June 1, 2025 and the date of this decision.
