Raipur (thestates.news) |As the nation prepares to observe the fifth anniversary of the “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan” (NMBA) on November 18, large-scale programmes are being organized across India. The main event will take place in Amritsar, Punjab, where Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s message will be broadcast virtually to audiences nationwide. In alignment with this national initiative, Chhattisgarh has made extensive preparations to ensure that every corner of the state is connected to the movement.
Across all the districts of Chhattisgarh, collective anti-addiction pledges will be administered through universities, colleges, schools, departmental institutions, self-help groups, as well as Anganwadi and ASHA workers. The state machinery has mobilized comprehensively to spread awareness on giving up substance abuse, adopting a healthier lifestyle, and protecting the youth from addiction.
As per the information, virtual connectivity has been arranged from 70 locations in Chhattisgarh to maximize public participation. At the district level, through collectorates, district headquarters and other venues, around 26,190 participants are expected to join.
Higher education institutions are also displaying remarkable enthusiasm. Approximately 4,48,995 participants from 25 universities and other higher education institutions are likely to take part. Additionally, 3,37,890 participants from 2,131 institutions under various departments will join the initiative.
The contribution of self-help groups and frontline workers remains crucial. Through 28,753 self-help groups and ASHA collectives, nearly 2,50,234 people will take the anti-addiction pledge. A further 46,842 participants are expected to connect virtually from other locations.
The presence of senior officials, district collectors, elected representatives, heads of educational institutions and other distinguished citizens will further strengthen the impact of this national campaign in the state. The Department of Social Welfare, Chhattisgarh, has already issued necessary guidelines to all districts to ensure smooth organization and effective execution of the programme.
With this collective pledge, the state government believes that the movement will infuse renewed energy into building a healthier and addiction-free society, ushering in deeper awareness and positive change across communities.
