Raipur (thestates.news) | The Central Library of Kalinga University, Raipur, has taken a remarkable step toward strengthening legal education and research with the inauguration of the “Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar Legacy”—a distinguished Special Collection comprising 567 landmark Supreme Court cases spanning the years 1969 to 2025. The collection was formally unveiled on 20 November 2025 at the University’s Central Library.
This curated repository serves as a rich academic resource for students, scholars, faculty members, and legal practitioners, offering a structured foundation for advanced study in jurisprudence. The collection pays tribute to decades of judicial evolution and honors the memory of Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar the first CM of Himachal Pradesh. Dr. Parmar is hailed as the architect or founder of the Himachal Pradesh State. Forefather of Dr. K. Riju Raj S. Jamwal, whose legacy
continues to inspire scholarship and legal inquiry. Its establishment reaffirms Kalinga
University’s dedication to fostering rigorous legal research and promoting a culture of
academic excellence aligned with contemporary educational needs.
Distinguished guests and members of the legal fraternity attended the inaugural ceremony. Among the esteemed dignitaries present were Dr. K. Riju Raj S. Jamwal, Advocate & Legal Consultant, Supreme Court of India, and Mrs Jamwal, Chartered Accountant and Certified Financial Analyst, along with Dr. R. Shridhar, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Sandeep Gandhi, Registrar, Dr. Rahul
Mishra, Dean Academic Affairs and Controller of examinations, and faculty members from the Faculty of Law, Kalinga University.
Delivering the inaugural address, Chief Guest Dr. K. Riju Raj S. Jamwal emphasized the crucial role of easily accessible legal documents in strengthening jurisprudential studies and promoting analytical research. He highlighted how such collections contribute significantly to shaping well-informed, future-ready legal professionals.
The event was jointly organized by Dr. Mohammad Nasir, Professor-cum-University Librarian, and Dr. Azim Khan B. Pathan, Professor & Dean, Faculty of Law, and concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks.
