Raipur (thestates.news): A two-day National Seminar on the theme “Indian Language Family: New
Horizons, New Perspectives and the Future of Linguistic Unity” was organized on 9–10 January, 2026 under the joint auspices of the Bharatiya Bhasha Samiti (Ministry of Education, Government of India) and Kalinga University.

need of respecting all Indian languages and promoting Hindi as the connecting
language of the nation. The Bharatiya Bhasha Parivar booklet was released during
the conference.

Dr. R. Shridhar, the Vice Chancellor of Kalinga University, extended a warm
welcome to all the guests attending the event. The Chief Speaker of the event was Shri Alok Dev, Additional Director, Department of Public Relations, who highlighted that language is not merely a
means of communication but the backbone of civilization. He praised the role of
the Bharatiya Bhasha Samiti in education, research, social integration, the use of
mother tongue in education, and the National Education Policy.

Present in the event was the eminent writer Shri Varun Shrivastava, who
highlighted that language is a vital link of national unity, and that all dialects and
languages of the country should continue to flourish in their natural form.
Dr. Anuradha Dubey, Public Relations Officer of the Tourism Department,
mentioned in detail on linguistic awareness, linguistic unity, and the journey from
tradition to the digital age.
Professor Varaprasad of Amity University elaborated on the journey from
ancient knowledge traditions to contemporary education and highlighted the
importance of Hindi as a mother tongue and the rich scientific tradition in Indian
languages.

Presiding over the valedictory session, Dr. R. Shridhar, Vice-Chancellor, Kalinga
University, elaborated on the objectives of the Bharatiya Bhasha Parivar and stated
that the Bharatiya Bhasha Samiti of the Central Government is playing a
significant role in promoting Indian languages. He emphasized that education,
research, and administration in the mother tongue are essential for strengthening
India’s linguistic power.
Ms. Ruchi Sharma, Joint Collector, remarked that Indian languages are not
merely expressions of emotion but also carriers of rich scientific, philosophical,
and technical knowledge traditions. She noted that languages such as Sanskrit,
Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, and Marathi have abundant ancient literature in science,
mathematics, Ayurveda, astronomy, and philosophy. Senior writer and litterateur
Dr. Subhash Mishra, senior journalist stated that any discourse on the Indian
language family remains incomplete unless theory, research, and policy engage in
dialogue with one another. Providing equal platforms and opportunities to all
Indian languages would lead to decentralization of knowledge, strengthened social
justice, and sustainable development, and this seminar was a significant step in that
direction.
All the invited speakers were honoured with mementos, shawls, and certificates as
a mark of appreciation for their valuable contributions. Kits, notebooks, and
participation certificates were distributed to all participants. The programme
