Mount Everest Summiteer Undergoing Treatment in Kathmandu After Health Complications During Descent

Raipur (thestates.news) |Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai has stated that the Chhattisgarh Government is closely monitoring the health condition of talented mountaineer Amita Shrivas from Janjgir-Champa district and ensuring all possible assistance for her treatment and recovery. After successfully scaling Mount Everest on May 22, 2026, Amita reportedly fell ill while returning to the base camp due to extreme weather conditions, oxygen deficiency, and high-altitude complications. She was rescued by helicopter and admitted to Norvic International Hospital in Kathmandu, where treatment is currently underway. Doctors have informed that she is suffering from severe frostbite and other high-altitude-related health complications.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai stated that, as soon as information regarding her health condition was received, senior state government officials were instructed to coordinate and ensure “every possible assistance and support” for her treatment and well-being.

Amita Shrivas successfully scaled Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak at 8,848 metres, on May 22, 2026, bringing pride to Chhattisgarh at both national and international levels. Praising her achievement, the Chief Minister said that Amita has created a new chapter of inspiration for the state’s youth through her courage, determination, and tireless hard work.
