Raipur (thestates.news) | Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai visited the flood-affected areas of Bastar district on Monday and reviewed the situation on the ground. Chief Minister Shri Sai reached Dongaghat in the Jagdalpur Municipal Corporation area, met flood-affected families, listened to their problems, and enquired about their situation. He assured the affected people that the State Government stands firmly with them in this time of crisis and that it will provide every possible assistance to each affected family.
Providing major relief to flood-affected families, Chief Minister Shri Sai announced financial assistance of Rs 10,000 to each affected family from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, in addition to the assistance available under government provisions. He directed officials to quickly complete the survey and assessment of flood damage and ensure government assistance reaches eligible families as soon as possible.
Chief Minister Shri Sai met flood-affected families in Dongaghat. He enquired about the circumstances they faced during the floods, the damage caused to houses and household belongings, and the relief currently being provided. The Chief Minister said all necessary assistance will be provided, keeping affected families’ needs in view.
The Chief Minister clearly directed officials to ensure relief operations proceed without delay. Food, safe drinking water, medicines and other essential supplies should reach affected people on time. Relief arrangements should ensure particular attention to the needs of children, older people, women, and people in need.
Chief Minister Reviews Indravati River Water Level and Flood-Affected Areas
Chief Minister Shri Sai reached the Indravati Bridge and reviewed the river’s water level and the surrounding flood-affected areas. He sought information from departmental officials on rainfall and the district’s flood situation, including affected villages and urban areas, relief and rescue operations, and arrangements for affected families.
The Chief Minister said officials should continuously monitor changes in water levels and weather conditions. Officials should maintain special vigilance in low-lying and sensitive areas, and activate relief and rescue teams immediately when required. He said people’s safety is paramount and arrangements to assist in any emergency must remain fully prepared.
Special Focus on Health and Sanitation After Floodwaters Recede
Chief Minister Shri Sai directed officials to pay special attention to health and sanitation-related challenges in affected areas after floodwaters recede. Officials must ensure safe drinking water. Along with cleaning and treating water sources, Health Department teams should remain active to prevent water-borne diseases.
He directed officials to organise health camps in affected areas as needed, maintain adequate medicine supplies, and take immediate action in the event of any potential disease outbreak. The Chief Minister said relief operations should not be limited to the period until floodwaters recede. Necessary arrangements should continue effectively until affected families’ lives return to normal.
Early Assessment of Damage to Houses, Crops and Livestock
Chief Minister Shri Sai directed officials to conduct a sensitive and transparent survey of houses, crops, livestock and other property damaged by the floods. He said officials should assess the actual extent of losses and provide assistance to the concerned families at the earliest, in accordance with government provisions. No eligible affected family should be deprived of assistance.
The Chief Minister directed officials to regularly visit relief camps and affected settlements to understand people’s needs. He instructed officials to give humanitarian sensitivity the highest priority in relief operations and ensure necessary assistance reaches every affected person on time.
Government Stands with Every Flood-Affected Family: Chief Minister Sai
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that in this difficult time of natural disaster, the State Government stands firmly with flood-affected families. Ensuring the safety and relief of affected people and restoring normalcy as soon as possible is the government’s highest priority. He said there would be no shortage of necessary resources, and the government would extend every possible support to affected families.
As per the Chief Minister’s directions, relief and rescue operations are being carried out in flood-affected areas. Food, drinking water, healthcare facilities, and other essential assistance are being provided based on affected families’ needs. The situation is being continuously monitored, and prompt measures are being taken as required.
Mayor Shri Sanjay Pandey, Municipal Corporation Chairman Shri Khem Singh Dewangan, Shri Kamalchandra Bhanj Deo, and other public representatives, along with Bastar Commissioner Shri Doman Singh, IG Shri B.N. Meena, Collector Shri Akash Chhikara, Superintendent of Police Shri Shalabh Sinha, and officials from the concerned departments were present.
