Varanasi,(thestates.news) : Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman participated in the cultural proramme of Kashi Tamil Sangamam going on in BHU on Sunday morning and then interacted with the students.
When the students asked why the rupee is depreciating against the dollar, the Finance Minister said, “There is no such thing as the rupee is not falling. We are only comparing dollar to rupee. By comparing it with other currencies of the world, you will know that the rupee is not falling.”
On the question of employment in rural areas, she said that this is a challenge. But through the dream of self-reliance, India will fulfill this too. After the dialogue, the Finance Minister also took photographs with the students.
The union Finance Minister garlanded the statue of BHU founder Mahamana Pt. Madan Mohan Malaviya before participating in the academic session on ‘Temple Architecture and Other Heritage Forms of Knowledge’ organized at BHU’s Amphitheater ground. The union Minister interacted with the Tamil representatives in Sangamam in Tamil language and said that the distance between North and South will disappear by the Sangamam.
In the programme, Bharatiya Janata Party’s Kashi region president Mahesh Chandra Srivastava presented the translated Yatharth Gita in Tamil language to the FM.(HS)
