Raipur, (#the states.news) Under the leadership of Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, innovative steps taken by the new government have begun a new chapter of development for the cities in last one and a half year.
Chhattisgarh has become a the top ranking state of the country in terms of cleanliness. Moreover, Chhattisgarh Government has launched innovative schemes such as ‘Rajiv Gandhi Aashray Yojana’, ‘Mor Zameer Mor Makaan’, to provide lease on encroachd land to the urban poor families. Large number of houses built under Prime Minister Housing Scheme. Development of basic facilities is providing convenience to the citizens. Chief Minister Slum Health Scheme has been launched to make healthcare facilities available while ward office scheme is being implemented to ensure immediate redressal of public grievances.
In the health survey of states organized by Government of India in year 2017, Chhattisgarh could not make it to the top ten list. In year 2018, Chhattisgarh secured third rank. In year 2019 and 2020, after inclusion of Narua, Garua, Ghurua Au Bari, Chhattisgarh has continued to secure the topmost rank in the country in terms of cleanliness. Paatan Nagar Panchayat has been declared to be the cleanest city in its category. Under Cleanliness Excellence Award category for regional organizations and urban organizations constituted under National Urban Livelihood Mission, Government of India has awarded first prize to Ujala Regional Organized of Raigarh Municipal Corporation, Swachh Ambikapur Mission Cooperatives Society Ltd of Ambikapur, and the second price has been awarded to Swachh Saraipali Mahila Kshetriy Sangathan of Saraipali Municipal Council.
Ten thousand women (Swachchhta Didi) of Self-Help Groups were included under ‘Mission Clean City’. These women collect nearly 1600 tons of waste (wet and dry separately) everyday from 15 lakh households of the state. Entire waste is disposed off scientifically. State Government has decided to hike the honorarium of these women to Rs 6000. Rs 15 crore earned from the sale of dry waste is also distributed among the self help groups.
