Amit Shah introduces the SPG amendment bill in the Lok Sabha

New Delhi ,(thestates.news) : Union Home Minister Amit Shah introduced the SPG amendment bill in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday afternoon. Amit Shah said that we have brought this bill for some changes in this law, initially, SPG used to work under an executive order. Later a law was made, after which the Special Protection Group started working. Shah said that now only the current Prime Minister will get this security, besides the former Prime Minister’s family will get this facility for five years.

Some changes have been made in the SPG rules by the Central Government, due to which SPG security has been withdrawn from the Gandhi family. There was a lot of uproar on this issue from Congress. Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi used to get SPG security till now but now their security has gone into the hands of CRPF.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that it was amended in 1991-94, even after that it was amended many times. The Home Minister said that after the amendment, the Act will be made, after that it will be available to the Prime Minister and his family members. Those who live at the Prime Minister’s residence will get this. At the same time, the former Prime Minister and his family will get SPG protection for a period of five years. (HS)
