Ayodhya demolition case: 32 accused to appear before court

Lucknow, (thestates.news) After a long wait of over two decades, 32 people, who were accused in the Ayodhya demolition on December 6, 1992, would be appearing in the court from Thursday, to record their statements.

The accused, including former Deputy PM Lal Krishna Advani, former UP Chief Minister Kalyan Singh, apart from senior BJP leaders Murli Manohar Joshi and Uma Bharti, have been informed, along with their counsels, as per the Court’s direction.
The accused would record their statements under Section 313 of CrPC, where the court would confront the accused on the evidences produced against them, seeking their reply.

On the first day on Thursday, three accused, including former MP Ram Vilas Vedanti, Vijay Bahadur and Santosh Dubey, were slated to appear before the Special Court of Judge S K Yadav.
Last month, the court completed recording of statements of CBI witnesses, after two of them made their statements through video-conferencing.

The other accused, who would appear in the trial court to record their statements, include BJP MPs Braj Bhishan Sharan Singh, Lalu Singh and Sakshi Maharaj, besides former MPs Vinay Katiyar and Ram Vilas Vedanti.
The list further includes VHP leader and Ramjanambhoomi Tirath Khetra Trust General Secretary Champat Rai, Sadhvi Ritambhara, Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, Mahant Dharamdas, R N Srivavastava, Pawan Kumar Pandey and Satish Pradhan. (uni)  (mediasaheb.com)
