Lucknow,(Thestates.news) |Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government has turned Uttar Pradesh into a jungle raj. In a statement issued here, Akhilesh said, “Sisters and daughters are not safe. Every day, heinous incidents are happening with daughters in the state. All claims of safety of sisters and daughters have failed. Instead of protecting the public, the police is harassing them. Innocents are being implicated in false cases.”
He alleged that there is a state of anarchy in the state. “Instead of catching the real criminals and taking action against them, the police sometimes fake encounters poor and innocent people and sometimes beats them to death in custody. Under the BJP government, another Dalit youth has died due to police beating in Fardan police station area of Lakhimpur Kheri district,” he said.
Akhilesh said that the BJP government is doing injustice and atrocities with the PDA. “In this government, the atrocities of the police against the youth of Dalits, backward and minority communities are not stopping,” he alleged.
He said that no one is safe in the BJP government. “No one can get justice because the BJP and the police themselves are involved in injustice and atrocities. Government-protected criminals have a free hand. The administration has no control over them. Criminals are punished or pardoned based on their caste,” he said.
The SP chief said said that the video statement of a gang rape victim in Ayodhya has revealed the root cause of the increasing harassment and atrocities against women in UP. “Due to some insensitive police personnel, the victim had to suffer a lot to file a report. Due to the complexity of writing a report, many crimes are not registered, which boosts the morale of the criminals. Is this zero tolerance towards crimes against women and law and order? The government should tell where has its anti-Romeo squad disappeared?” (uni)
