Dantewada tops in mineral revenue collection in the state
In the financial year 2024-25, Dantewada district has topped the mineral revenue collection of the state by contributing the highest amount of Rs 6580 crore. Apart from this, a significant revenue share of Rs 2148 crore from Korba, Rs 2027 crore from Raigarh, Rs 1313 crore from Balod, Rs 585 crore from Surguja, Rs 354 crore from Balodabazar, Rs 328 crore from Kanker and Rs 155 crore from Surajpur has been recorded.
National Share in Mineral Resources
Chhattisgarh holds an important place in the country in terms of mineral resources. Despite having only 4% share in the total geographical area of the country, Chhattisgarh has a share of more than 16% in the total mineral production value of the country. There are huge reserves of iron ore, coal, limestone and bauxite here, which are the main sources of mineral revenue. Apart from this, a total of 28 types of mineral reserves including minerals of strategic importance have been confirmed in the state.
Additional revenue from e-auction system
Since the year 2015, the Mineral Department has been allocating minerals through e-auction, due to which additional revenue is being received in the form of premium in addition to royalty. The contribution of mines approved through e-auction in the increase in mineral revenue is now clearly visible.
Strength to infrastructure through mineral development head
The state government transfers 5% of the total receipt of mineral revenue to the “Mineral Development Head”. Through this, the work of development of mineral resources and infrastructure construction is being done in the remote areas of the state. For the coming year 2025-26, about Rs 200 crore has been provisioned only for the construction of rail corridor in the remote areas of the state.
Contribution to overall socio-economic development
The mining operation of the state is not limited to providing raw material to industrial institutions, but has become a strong pillar of social and economic development of Chhattisgarh.
“The land of Chhattisgarh is rich not only in mineral wealth but also in infinite possibilities of development and resolve for public welfare. The state has touched a new height by achieving a record mineral revenue of Rs 14,195 crore in the financial year 2024-25. This achievement is the result of our visionary policies, transparent administration, and honest work culture.
Through e-auction system, technological innovation and good governance, we are transforming the mineral sector not only into a means of revenue collection but also into an engine of development for remote areas.”
