Technology-driven measures strengthen transparency and monitoring
Raipur (thestates.news) | Chhattisgarh has emerged as one of the leading states in the country in the implementation of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA), with notable progress recorded across key indicators in the financial year 2025–26.
Nearly 97% of active labourers complete e-KYC
A major step towards improving transparency and efficiency has been the near-completion of e-KYC for active labourers. As of April 1, 2026, around 97 percent of active labourers in the state have completed e-KYC. In total, e-KYC has been carried out for 58.16 lakh labourers. In parallel, geo-tagging of 11.32 lakh completed assets has been undertaken, enabling better tracking and monitoring of works on the ground.
GIS-based planning in 11,668 gram panchayats
The state has also adopted GIS-based planning on a large scale. For the financial year 2026–27, a total of 2,86,975 works have been planned across 11,668 gram panchayats through the Yuktdhara portal. This approach has helped align planning with local requirements while ensuring a more structured and scientific process. At worksites, attendance monitoring has been strengthened through the use of face authentication-based NMMS (National Mobile Monitoring System). This has made the system more reliable and reduced scope for discrepancies.
Direct public access through QR codes
In another step towards public transparency, QR codes have been installed in gram panchayats, allowing citizens to access detailed information about ongoing works. Since September 1, over five lakh scans have been recorded, indicating active public engagement with the system.
Monthly platform for grievance redressal and review
The state has also introduced a regular platform for grievance redressal and review. On the 7th of every month, “Rozgar Diwas” and “Awas Diwas” are organised alongside the ‘Chawal Utsav’. These events provide an opportunity for beneficiaries to raise concerns and for officials to review the implementation of schemes at the ground level.
Through a combination of digital tools and administrative measures, the state has focused on improving transparency, strengthening monitoring, and ensuring that benefits reach labourers effectively under MGNREGA.
