Raipur (thestates.news)| Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel congratulated Ajay Kumar Mandavi and Domar Singh Kanwar on their selection for the Padma Shri award. He expressed his joy at being chosen for the country’s prestigious award, saying that it made Chhattisgarh and the art world proud.
It is worth noting that this is the first time since the state’s inception that three individuals from the state have been chosen for the Padma Awards in a single year. Two of the three people chosen for the year 2023 are from the tribal community.
Among these, Shri Domar Singh Kanwar will be awarded the Padma Shri for his outstanding contributions to the field of dance. Shri Domar Singh Kanwar has also made significant contributions to the social sector. He has aided in the abolition of many evil practises, such as child marriage. Domar Singh, a well-known name in the field of art, has given over 5000 performances across the country.
Ajay Kumar Mandavi, on the other hand, will be awarded the Padma Shri for preparing a one-of-a-kind specimen of artefacts. Mr. Mandavi, a Kanker resident, engraves a wonderful piece of art on wood.
Meanwhile, Usha Barle of Durg will receive the Padma Award for her contribution to Pandwani singing. Teejan Bai, a famous Pandwani singer and Padmavibhushan, taught her Pandwani. Pandvani has been performed by Ms. Barle in cities such as London and New York.
