Raipur (The States. news) Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel has written a letter to Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, requesting to ensure timely supply of new jute gunny bags as per the plan issued by Food Ministry, Government of India on 12 November 2021. Mr. Baghel has stated in the letter that as per the aforementioned plan, Chhattisgarh has the permission to purchase 2.14 lakh bales of new jute bags through Jute Commissioner Kolkata. However, the state has received only 86,856 bales of new jute gunny bags so far, which is much less than the quantity required as per the plan. Chhattisgarh requires 5.25 lakh bales of gunny bags for paddy procurement. According to the Jute Commissioner’s plan, delay in supply of 100 percent of the required gunny bags can create law and order situation in the state.
In his letter to Prime Minister Mr. Modi, Chief Minister Mr.Bhupesh Baghel stated that paddy procurement from farmers in the Kharif Marketing Year 2021-22, on the support price announced by Government of India, is likely to commence in Chhattisgarh from December 01, 2021. Necessary preparations for which are already in progress. In the Kharif marketing year 2021-22, procurement of 105 lakh tons of paddy on support price is expected in the state, for which 5.25 lakh bales of gunny bags will be required. Chhattisgarh has received the permission to purchase 2.14 lakh bales of new jute bags through Jute Commissioner Kolkata, through a letter issued by the Ministry of Food and Public Distribution, Government of India on 12 November 2021. Accordingly, the schedule has been issued for the month-wise supply of bales:- 0.19 lakh bales for August, 0.32 lakh bales for September, 0.72 lakh bales for October, 0.15 lakh bales for November and 0.76 lakh bales for December.
