Raipur (thestates.news) | Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai has extended warm greetings and best wishes to the people of Chhattisgarh on the auspicious occasion of Devshayani Ekadashi. He expressed hope that the blessings of Lord Shrihari Vishnu would continue to shower peace, happiness and prosperity upon all.
Chief Minister Shri Sai noted that Devshayani Ekadashi holds a special significance in Sanatan tradition. According to religious beliefs, on this day Lord Vishnu enters a four-month period of Yog-Nidra known as Chaturmas. During this time, ceremonies like weddings are traditionally deferred, and acts of devotion, penance and charity are considered particularly meritorious.
This festival falls on the Ekadashi tithi (11th day) of the bright fortnight of the month of Ashadha. It is also referred to as Hari Shayani Ekadashi, Devshayani Ekadashi, or Ashadhi Ekadashi. Devotees observe fasts, offer prayers and perform special rituals dedicated to Lord Vishnu, seeking the welfare of all beings.
As per the Puranas, it is believed that from this day, Lord Vishnu reclines on the cosmic serpent Sheshnag in the Kshir Sagar and remains in yognidra until Prabodhini Ekadashi, four months later. This period is therefore regarded as highly auspicious for spiritual reflection and self-discipline.
The Chief Minister urged citizens to observe this sacred occasion with goodwill, restraint and virtuous conduct, and to move forward on the path of collective welfare and personal spiritual growth.
