Usha, in New Delhi today. The high-level discussion focused on enhancing sports infrastructure, training young athletes, and preparing the state for Olympic-level competitions.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Shri Sai reaffirmed the government’s commitment to nurturing sports talent in the state, ensuring that Chhattisgarh’s athletes receive national and international recognition. He said that athletes from Chhattisgarh winning Olympic gold medals will be awarded ₹3 crore, silver medalists ₹2 crore, and bronze medalists ₹1 crore as part of the government’s incentive program to encourage excellence in sports.

IOA Expert Team to Provide High-Level Training in Chhattisgarh

In a significant development, Mrs. P.T. Usha assured that the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) will send a delegation of expert coaches and trainers to Chhattisgarh to provide world-class training to local athletes. The Bastar Olympics, recently conducted in Chhattisgarh, witnessed an unprecedented participation of 1.65 lakh youth, underscoring the state’s rich sports culture. The event aimed at preparing local athletes for national and international competitions by providing them with structured exposure and opportunities.

Abujhmad Peace Half Marathon – Inspiring the Next Generation of Runners

In another major initiative, the ‘Abujhmad Peace Half Marathon’ is scheduled for March 2, 2025, with over 5,000 participants expected to compete. The marathon will be organized in three categories – 21 km, 10 km, and 5 km, encouraging aspiring runners to showcase their endurance and competitive spirit.

These initiatives, combined with strategic support from the IOA and the Chhattisgarh government, are set to transform the state into a thriving sports hub.
