Raipur (thestates.news) | On the martyrdom day of Chhattisgarh’s freedom fighter and people’s hero Amar Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai reached Jaystambh Chowk on 10 December and offered floral tributes at his statue.
Chief Minister stated that the life of Amar Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh stands as an “extraordinary symbol of sacrifice, courage, and justice”. He added that the fearless struggle he led against the “injustices and oppression” of British rule remains a golden chapter in Chhattisgarh’s proud legacy. His devotion to protecting the motherland and his commitment to the weaker sections of society will continue to serve as an “enduring source of inspiration”.
CM Shri Sai recalled that although Veer Narayan Singh was born into a zamindar family in Sonakhan, his heart was always connected to the hardships faced by Adivasis, farmers, and poor households. During the devastating famine of 1856, when people were suffering from acute hunger, he chose humanity above all and distributed grains from the warehouse to those in urgent need, setting an “unmatched example of compassion, courage, and selfless service”. The Chief Minister said this act was not merely an expression of agitation but a historic declaration against “social injustice, exploitation, and deep-rooted inequalities”.
CM Shri Sai stated that Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh continues to represent the living spirit of Chhattisgarh’s “identity, pride, and people’s resistance”. His lifelong struggle to safeguard the rights of the poor, farmers, and marginalised communities will guide future generations on the path of “justice, humanity, and national service”. He added that the state government is working with full commitment for Chhattisgarh’s development in line with the ideals and vision of Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh.
Minister for Tribal Welfare Shri Ramvichar Netam, Forest Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap, MLA Shri Purandar Mishra, Chairman of the Chhattisgarh Scheduled Tribe Commission Shri Rupsingh Mandavi, Chairman of the Chhattisgarh State Forest Development Corporation Shri Ramsevak Paikra and other public representatives were present.
