Raipur, (thestates.news) Welcoming Modi government’s decision
not to charge mandi fee on agricultural products, the Bharatiya Janata Party National
vice-president and former chief minister of Chhattisgarh Dr Raman Singh has
termed it as a historical step towards welfare of the farmers.
In a statement issued here on Saturday, Dr Singh
said that with the enforcement of Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce Ordinance
after approval of the Union Cabinet, farmers will have freedom to sell
agricultural produces. This will free the traders from the license raj besides
bringing down the marketing cost for the farmers. This will strengthen supply
chains and promote investment in agriculture sector.
He said that this will also promote the spirit
of one country, one market. Any PAN account holder will be able to do business
of agricultural products. Agricultural cooperatives and groups of farmers will
be able to do business even without a PAN card. Payment must also be made
compulsorily within three business days.uni
