Earthquake tremors in Chhattisgarh’s Korea, 2 injured

Raipur, (thestates.news) : Earthquake tremors with magnitude of 4 were felt at many places in Korea district of Chhattisgarh at around 1am on Friday. Due to the earthquake, two labourers were injured when a ‘Goph’ fell inside SECL Charcha underground mines. According to the district administration, tremors of earthquake were felt in the surrounding areas including the district headquarters Baikunthpur. Both the laborers have been referred to Apollo Hospital in Bilaspur.

Tremors of the earthquake were felt in North Chhattisgarh on Monday morning as well, magnitude of the earthquake was measured at 4.6 on the Richter scale. Epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 10 km from the ground in Sonhat area near Korea district headquarters Baikunthpur. Three years ago there was an earthquake of 4.7 magnitude.According to meteorologist AM Bhatt, Surguja, Korea district of North Chhattisgarh is considered to be a fault zone from the point of view of earthquake. Sonhat area of Korea district is in fault zone. About three years ago, on September 01, 2018, there was an earthquake of 4.7 magnitude here. In Baikunthpur, ceiling fans and things kept in the house were shaken.(HS)
