Raipur, (#the states.news) Considering the lockdown situation in Chhattisgarh, Excise Commissioner Raipur Chhattisgarh Mr. Niranjan Das and Managing Director Chhattisgarh State Marketing Corporation Mr. AP Tripathi have issued orders to prohibit the inter-state transportation of liquor. In the same sequence, under the supervision of Collector Kabeerdham Mr. Ramesh Kumar Sharma, In-charge District Excise Office Kabeerdham Mr. GPS Dardi took immediate action on a complaint about illegal transportation of liquor to Balaghat district of Madhya Pradesh from Kabeerdham district, Chhattisgarh. On instructions of Excise Department Kabeerdham, the team led by Assistant District Excise Officer Mr. Nitin Kumar Khanduja immediately held a check post near Sahaspur Lohara Petrol Pump Square. While checking the vehicles, a Chevrolet HVO V5 vehicle (CG04 H4977) was caught with 21 boxes of foreign liquor Goa whiskey, three boxes of MacDowell number one, three boxes of royal stag and one box of royal challenge whiskey. These 28 boxes/252 bulk of liquor was being smuggled to Madhya Pradesh state for sale. Estimated cost of the liquor recovered from the vehicle is nearly Rs 1.80 lakh. Excised Department has seized the aforementioned vehicle and liquor. Driver of the vehicle Sanjay Verma (26), son of Dadan Verma, resident of Hathkhoj Bhilai-2 Durg district and his accomplice Vijay Kumar Yadav (26), son of Ramvilas Yadav, resident of Devada district Rajnandgaon, were arrested on spot under Section 34(2) and 36 of Excise Act and action is being taken to send them to jail on remand. Including the vehicle worth Rs 15 lakh, total worth of the goods seized in this case is Rs 33 lakh. Excise Sub-Inspectors- Mr. Nagesh Raj Shrivastav, Mr. Yogesh Soni, Mr. Manish Kumar Sahu, Mr. Tulesh Deshlahre and Constable Hemchand Kaushik and Driver Diamond Sahu were part of the team that took the aforementioned action today.
