New Delhi, (thestates.news): For the past few days, the ongoing tension between the US and Iran has been increasing. Iran fired a dozen rockets at the US airbase in Iraq at 5.30 am this morning. After which there has been an atmosphere of unrest in the area. The Ministry of External Affairs has advised Indian citizens not to go to Iraq.
Foreign Minister S.Jaishankar said, ‘Given the current situation in Iraq, Indian citizens are advised to avoid all non-essential travel to Iraq until further notification is issued. Indian citizens living in Iraq are advised to be vigilant and avoid traveling inside Iraq. The Foreign Ministry has said that Indians should take precautions and avoid unnecessary travel. Indians should avoid traveling to Iraq until further notice.
The Ministry of External Affairs has said that the Indian Embassy in Baghdad in Iraq and the Indian Consulate Office in Irbil are doing their job in terms of serving Indian citizens.
The ministry further said that our Embassy in Baghdad and the Consulate of Erbil will continue to function normally to provide all services to Indians living in Iraq. Apart from this, government sources say that India has asked all its airlines not to fly over Iran, Iraq and the Gulf region due to the ongoing tension.(HS)
