Health check-up of all school children will be done

Raipur  (The States. news)| Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain has given instructions for health check-up of all school children besides asking to ensure issuance of disability certificate to all the differently-abled children. He has issued a circular to all District Collectors and the Chief Executive Officers of the Zila Panchayats directing them to conduct health check-ups of the children in the next two months in coordination with the School Education Department and the Health Department.

It was stated in the circular issued that before the Covid-19 pandemic, regular health check-up and treatment of all school children was done in coordination with the School Education Department and Public Health and Family Welfare Department. Under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, there is a provision for identification of children with special abilities of all categories under the head of inclusive education and for their training and treatment as per the requirement. Under the ‘Chirayu’ programme of the Health Department, a system has been developed for the treatment of children post identification.

The Chief Secretary has directed to complete the survey in a planned manner in the next two months with the coordination between officials of the School Education Department and the Health Department at the district level. Besides, he has asked the officials concerned to ensure availability of health facilities on priority basis in schools where the survey work has already been completed.

In the circular, the Chief Secretary has said that for the baseline data, the children with disabilities identified under the previous U-DISE can be taken on priority for the treatment, till the new survey and health check-up is completed. Along with this, instructions have also been given to ensure the distribution of disability certificates to 100 per cent children with special abilities. He asked the Collectors and Chief Executive Officers of Zila Panchayats to ensure all necessary action in this regard.
