Raipur (thestates.news) | In a significant step towards strengthening international academic and research collaborations, premier institutions of Chhattisgarh—Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Raipur, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhilai, and National Institute of Technology (NIT) Raipur—jointly engaged in a high-level dialogue with representatives of the Republic of Singapore to explore new avenues of cooperation in education, innovation, and skill development. The discussions, held on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Singapore-India diplomatic relations, are expected to open new horizons for global partnerships.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Jerome Wong, Consul (Political), Consulate-General of the Republic of Singapore, and Ms. Ericka, alongside senior institutional leaders including Professor Sanjeev Prashar, Director-In-Charge, IIM Raipur; Professor Rajiv Prakash, Director, IIT Bhilai; Dr. N.V. Ramana Rao, Director, NIT Raipur; Mr. Ajit Bhatpahri, General Manager, Chhattisgarh State Tourism Development Corporation; Professor Sumeet Gupta, IIM Raipur; and Dr. Anuj Shukla, NIT Raipur.
The dialogue focused on diverse opportunities for collaboration between the Government of Singapore and the Government of Chhattisgarh. With Chhattisgarh emerging as an industrial hub, particular emphasis was laid on the potential for semiconductor development and allied sectors. Discussions also explored possibilities of introducing joint courses with Singaporean universities, expanding international student exchange programs, and developing dual-degree initiatives.
The Singaporean representatives expressed keen interest in facilitating institutional linkages that would enable collaborative research, knowledge-sharing, and academic mobility. They underscored the critical role of digital infrastructure and data centers as key enablers of future cooperation.
Both sides also deliberated on forging stronger ties between Chhattisgarh-based institutions and Singaporean universities, industries, and policy bodies. The shared vision is to build platforms that bring together India’s innovation-driven educational ecosystem and Singapore’s expertise in skill-oriented pedagogy, thereby creating globally relevant programs that nurture future-ready talent.
The meeting concluded on an optimistic note with a felicitation ceremony at IIM Raipur, reaffirming the commitment of all stakeholders to chart a clear roadmap for joint initiatives in research, innovation, and sustainable development.(S-PBI)
