New Delhi, (thestates.news) With 85,970 coronavirus cases,
India on Saturday surpassed China—epicenter of the pandemic.
As per latest update from the Health Ministry, India added 3,970 cases and 103
deaths in past 24 hours. The death toll now stands at 2,753 or 3.2 per cent.
On the brighter side, 2,233 more patients recovered taking the total number of
recoveries to 30,153. With this, the recovery rate has improved to 35.05 per
cent, meaning that more than one third of patients were able to able to
overcome the infection.
Maximum burden of cases goes to Maharashtra where tally surged to 29,100 after
registering 1,576 new cases. The death toll stood at 1,068 after 49 more
patients succumbed.
The tally in Tamil Nadu crossed 10,000-mark after registering 434 cases, making
it second worst-affected. The total number of infections are 10,108 while
fatalities 71 which includes five in past 24 hours.
Gujarat recorded 340 fresh cases and 20 more deaths, bringing the tally to
9,931 while death toll to 606.
With 8,895 cases and 123 deaths, Delhi is placed at fourth spot. The National
capital recorded 425 fresh cases and eight more deaths.
Rajasthan’s tally rose to 4,725 after recording 193 more cases. The fatalities
remains at 125.
In Madhya Pradesh, 160 new infections were detected while two more deaths took
place. With this, the state’s tally reached 4,595 and death toll 239.
The Uttar Pradesh tally breached 4,000-mark and stood at 4,057 after recording
155 new cases. Seven more people lost their life bringing the death toll 95.
West Bengal saw 84 fresh cases and 10 deaths, taking the tally to 2,307 while
fatalities to 225.
As many as 102 new cases were recorded in Andhra Pradesh. The tally reached
2,307 while the death toll remained at 48.
Punjab’s tally remained static with 1,935 cases. The death toll, 32, too
remained unchanged.(uni)
