New Delhi, (thestates.news)
Former president of Indian Medical Association KK Aggarwal
and a social activist, on Wednesday approached the Supreme Court, seeking a
judicial inquiry into the death of more than 100 children, at a government
hospital in Rajasthan’s Kota district.
Plaintiffs contended that there should be a judicial inquiry into the alleged
deaths as the state government had failed in its duty to save the children.
They demanded that the judicial inquiry committee should be under the direct
supervision of a retired Judge of Apex Court to look into the causes and lapses
which had led to the death of the newborns in 21st century India.
Plaintiffs also prayed for a direction for strict implementation of
comprehensive guidelines, policies in respect of adequate facility and medical
equipment for patients in dire need.
The petition also sought a direction to ensure adequate infrastructure
facilities, including all medical devices.
As per sources in the Supreme Court Registry, the petition is expected to come
up for hearing in a week or two.uni
