New Delhi, (thestates.news) The IFSO unit of the Delhi Police on Tuesday filed a FIR under IPC sections 153A and 295A in relation to a contentious poster for the film Kaali. A police complaint was made against filmmaker Leena Manimekalai by Bharatiya Janata Party politician Shivam Chhabra for allegedly hurting the feelings of Hindus through a documentary poster. A number of people had earlier demanded the filmmaker’s arrest after the billboard stirred uproar on social media. A woman wearing the attire of Goddess Kaali is shown smoking in the movie’s poster, which Leena Manimekalai published on Twitter. The image also features the actress who will play Kaali holding the rainbow flag for the LBGTQ community in addition to her trident and sickle. The filmmaker received backlash shortly after she tweeted the poster, and online users urged the Aga Khan Museum, where the movie had its world premiere, to immediately take it down. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the PMO had received numerous requests for intervention because the poster was offensive to Hindus.(HS):
