Raipur,(thestates.news) | Hackathons are designed to foster innovation and problem-solving skills among students. These hackathons provide students with a platform to showcase their skills, collaborate with industry experts, and contribute to solving complex problems. They also offer opportunities for networking and learning from experienced professionals in the field.

The Department of Computer Science and the Faculty of Information Technology of Kalinga University successfully organized Hackathon-2026, a 24-hour non-stop innovation challenge held on 17th and 18th February 2026. The hackathon aimed to promote creativity, teamwork, and real-world problem-solving skills among students. The event was based on four major domains—FinTech, Gaming & Gamification, Cybersecurity, and Waste Management—encouraging participants to develop innovative technological solutions addressing contemporary challenges. The competition was conducted in three rigorous rounds, where teams presented their ideas, prototypes, and final implementations before a panel of judges.
The program commenced with the welcoming of guests and dignitaries. The convenor of the event was Dr. Omprakash Dewangan, Head of the Department, Faculty of CS & IT and coordinated by Dr. Kamlesh Kumar Yadav, Assistant Professor, Faculty of CS&IT.
The Chief Guest for the inaugural day was Mr. Suman Kumar Gupta, Director and Head of Bureau of Indian Standards, who emphasized the importance of innovation aligned with quality standards. On the Valedictory day, the Chief Guest was Dr. M. R. Khan, Principal of Government Engineering College, who motivated students to pursue excellence in technological advancement and research.
The winners of KU Hackathon 2026 were announced during the valedictory ceremony.
The 1st prize of ₹25,000 was awarded to Team IAM from Gita Autonomous Colleges, Bhubneshwar.
2nd prize of ₹15,000 was awarded to Team Revenue Minds from Woolf University
3rd prize of ₹10,000 was awarded to Team Creative Works from LNCT University, Bhopal.
4th prize of ₹7,500 was awarded to Team Peryton from Kalinga University.
Four consolation prizes amounting to Rs. 5000/- each were awarded to –
Team UNFAZED from Shri Shankaracharya Institute of Professional Management & Technology (SSIPMT), Raipur
Team Q2Devs from Gandhi Engineering College (GEC), Bhubneshwar
Team MD and Syntax Error from Kalinga University
The successful execution of the Hackathon was made possible through the dedicated support of faculty members including Dr. Anupa Sinha, Dr. Ayaz Ahmed Faridi, Ms. Aakansha Soy, Ms. Anjali Goswami, Mr. Moti Ranjan Tandi, Ms. Roohee Khan, Mr. Sanjay Behera, Ms. Pinky Bajaj, Ms. Anjali Kadao, Ms. Archana Mishra, Mr. Debarghya Biswas, Mr. Pravin Singh, Ms. Neha Shukla, Mr. Shivam Ojha, Mr. Aranpreet Singh, Ms. Sejal Singh Kashyap and Mr. Lomesh Kumar.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Omprakash Dewangan, who appreciated the collective efforts of participants, faculty members, and organizers in making the event a grand success.
The Hackathon once again reflected Kalinga University’s commitment to fostering innovation, experiential learning, and technological excellence among students.
