The death toll of last week’s gas tanker truck explosion in Lima rose
to 17, local media reported.
The latest victim to succumb to his injuries was identified as Joaquin Ambrosio
Navarrete (27), who had been admitted in a critical condition at the Loayza
Hospital since the January 23.
According to the Health Ministry, 31 people remain hospitalised,
including 10 minors meaning the death toll could still rise.
The incident also left more than 40 people injured.
Last Thursday, the tanker truck apparently hit a bump in the road that led to a
gas leak, sparking a fire and explosion which damaged several nearby homes.uni
