Mumbai, (thestates.news) Maharastra State Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Sunday paid tribute to Mahatma Basaveshwar on the occasion of his birth anniversary and said that the Indian philosopher’s teachings are inspiring and relevant even today, especially, in a time like this when the country is fighting a pandemic.
“In order to eradicate poverty and inequality in the society and bring economic prosperity, Mahatma Basaveshwar presented revolutionary ideas of using the money earned along with labour prestige for the society,” said Mr Pawar
Mahatma Basaveshwar dedicated his life to accept humanism by eradicating caste, gender, class and clan discrimination in the society. Raising his voice against injustice, he rejected the Karmath (rigid) tradition.
Basaveshwar is also known as a scientific, egalitarian, great philosopher and active social reformer.
Basaveshwar’s teachings gave impetus to various trades, especially village industries, and created harmony among all the professionals.
