Raipur (thestates.news) | Members of the Veer Shaheed Deepak Bharadwaj Smriti Samiti today paid a courtesy visit to Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai at his Residence Office. During the meeting, the Committee members extended an invitation to the Chief Minister to attend, as Chief Guest, the unveiling ceremony of the statue of Kirti Chakra awardee and valiant martyr Deepak Bharadwaj.
Paying homage to the indomitable courage and supreme sacrifice of Martyr Deepak Bharadwaj, Chief Minister Shri Sai said that his life and unwavering sense of duty continue to inspire the youth of the nation and the state alike. He emphasized that honouring martyrs and keeping their sacrifices alive in collective memory is a solemn duty of society. On the occasion, the martyr’s father Shri Radhelal Bharadwaj, Janpad Panchayat President of Malkharoda Shri Kavi Verma, Shri Nirmal Sinha, Shri Lalu Gabel, Shri Jagdish Chandra, and other members of the delegation were present.
It is noteworthy that on April 3, 2021, 22 security personnel laid down their lives braving an encounter with Naxalites at Tekalguda in the Tarrem police station area of Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh. Among them was Sub-Inspector of Police Deepak Bharadwaj, who displayed exceptional bravery and made the ultimate sacrifice in defence of the motherland.
In recognition of his extraordinary valour and sacrifice, and on the recommendation of the Chhattisgarh Government, the Government of India conferred upon him the Kirti Chakra. The prestigious gallantry award was presented by the President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, at the Defence Investiture Ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi, on May 9, 2023. The statue of Veer Shaheed Deepak Bharadwaj has been installed in front of Government Vedram College, Malkharoda (Pihreed), in Sakti district.
