NIT Raipur Induction Program Welcomes Freshers; Hira Auditorium and Smart Classrooms Inaugurated

Raipur (thestates.news) | The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Raipur welcomed the 2025–26 batch of undergraduate students with a grand Induction Program on Saturday, which also witnessed the inauguration of two Smart Classrooms, the Hira Auditorium and the Hira VIP Lounge.

The inauguration ceremony was held in the newly developed Hira Auditorium in the presence of Chief Guest Shri Bajrang Lal Agrawal, CMD, Godavari Power and Ispat Limited; Dr. Suresh Haware, Chairman, Board of Governors, NIT Raipur and IIT Bhilai; Shri S.K. Agrawal, alumnus (1975 batch); Shri Umesh Chitlangiya, President, Alumni Association GEC–NIT Raipur; and Director Dr. N.V. Ramana Rao. All Deans, Heads, faculty, staff and students joined the event.

Dr. Ramana Rao expressed gratitude towards Shri Bajrang Lal Agrawal, the Hira Group and Shri S.K. Agrawal for their contributions. Dr. Haware termed the day historic, appreciating alumni unity. Shri S.K. Agrawal recalled his student days, while Shri Chitlangiya praised the transparent foundation of the alumni association. Shri Bajrang Lal Agrawal, returning to campus after five decades, shared his journey from establishing cement and steel plants to building Asia’s first solar thermal power plant, calling engineering a discipline that teaches resilience and dedication.

The Induction Program continued at DDU Auditorium where Dr. Ramana Rao welcomed students, urging them to be responsible citizens. Prof. Rajeev Prakash, Director, IIT Bhilai, compared admission to NIT Raipur to reaching a base camp, urging goal-setting and prioritising the nation. Dr. Haware introduced the concept of “Frustration Tolerance Quotient (FQ),” highlighting the ability to endure pressure.

Later sessions introduced students to academics, placements, cultural and hostel facilities. The day concluded with a cultural highlight—a performance of the Hindi historical play “Chanakya” by noted actor Manoj Joshi and his team, presented in collaboration with IIT Bhilai—marking a memorable beginning for the new batch
