Raipur (thestates.news) | The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Raipur on Friday inaugurated a three-day celebration of National Sports Day 2025 with a pledge ceremony and the launch of a Kabaddi tournament at the Sports Activity Centre. The event was organised by the Department of Sports in collaboration with Shaurya, the institute’s sports committee.
Dr. Narendra D. Londhe, Registrar, NIT Raipur, presided as the Chief Guest at the inaugural programme, which was attended by a large gathering of faculty, staff and students. Also present were Dr. Manoj Kumar Chopkar, Dean (Student Welfare); Dr. Vivek Kumar Gaba, Faculty In-charge, Training and Placement Cell; Dr. Rajana S. Kumar, Professor In-charge, Sports; Dr. Alfia Bano, Faculty In-charge, Sports; and Sports Officer Mr. Kamal Singh Mann, along with other faculty and staff members.

In his address, Dr. Londhe called upon the institute community to celebrate National Sports Day with enthusiasm. He described sport as a source of energy, motivation and happiness, and underlined the importance of sportsmanship. Leading the gathering in a collective pledge, he urged everyone “to remain physically fit, mentally strong and emotionally balanced,” while encouraging active participation in fitness activities and adherence to Olympic values of excellence, respect and friendship.
Following the speeches and the oath-taking ceremony, the Kabaddi tournament and other scheduled competitions were formally declared open. The event created an atmosphere of excitement and set the tone for three days of sporting contests and activities at the institute.

The objective of the celebrations—promoting health and fitness, fostering team spirit and reinforcing a long-term commitment to sportsmanship and Olympic ideals among students, faculty and staff—was strongly emphasised and widely appreciated by the participants.(S-PIB)
