10th Day Marks Over 130 Performances; International Productions and Street Plays Win Hearts
Raipur (thestates.news) |The 25th Bharat Rang Mahotsav (BRM), known as the world’s largest theater festival organized by the National School of Drama (NSD), continued to attract large crowds on its 10th day. Celebrating its 25th year, the festival has brought exciting theater performances to 19 cities across India, including Raipur. So far, the event has featured more than 130 plays, including short dramas and street performances.

The 10th day offered a variety of stories from different cultures. In Delhi, powerful plays like “Badzat” and “Daddy” were performed, while the Kashmiri folk play “Aka Nandan” delighted the audience with its traditional style. From the international side, plays from Poland (“Umadevi Observes Wanda Dynowska”) and Russia (“A Very Simple Story”) brought global talent to the Indian stage, showing the festival’s international reach. Through ‘Advitya’—an initiative by NSD students—young actors used street plays to talk about important social topics. These included “Kuch Unsunne” (about child abuse), “Baby Shark Do Do Do Do” (about parenting), and plays about the lives of prisoners. These performances showed the creativity and social awareness of young artists. Additionally, short films from FTII were screened to show the art of filmmaking.

A major highlight of BRM 2026 is that it is not just in Delhi. The festival is also being held in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, allowing local theater fans to watch world-class performances. This gives the state’s culture a chance to connect with international theater. Along with Raipur, the festival is also active in cities like Bengaluru, Patna, Kolkata, and Pune.
A 25-Day Mega Event This 25th edition runs from January 27 to February 20, 2026. Over these 25 days, theater groups from 9 countries and every part of India are participating. More than 277 plays will be performed in 228 different languages, including many local dialects that are rarely heard on big stages.(s-pib)
