One Day National Virtual workshop Organized by the Department of Bio-technology of Kalinga University

Raipur (the states. news) Kalinga University, Raipur is a well-known Educational Institute in Central India that focusses on quality education and research. The University believes in holistic development of the students and thus facilitate the students to enhance and develop practical skills, techniques, or ideas which they can use in their work or their daily lives. To take this endeavor ahead, the Department of Biotechnology, Kalinga University organised a One Day Virtual National Workshop on 2nd November, 2020 on “Biofertilizer Formulation for Sustainable Development”. The keynote speaker for the workshop was Dr. Sandhya R. Moghe, HOD Biotechnology, Kamla Nehru Mahavidyalaya, Nagpur.

As every auspicious occasion seeks the blessings of the lord, this academic event also started with the blessings of the Goddess of Wisdom by the Sarasvati Vandana. The workshop was marked by the eminent presence of Vice-Chancellor- Dr. R. Shridhar, Director General- Dr. Byju John, Registrar- Dr. Sandeep Gandhi, Head of Biotechnology Department Dr. Sushma Dubey, Faculty members and students of the department and participants across the country. The deliberation of Dr. Moghe received an overwhelming response as it was very informative and educative. Dr. Moghe emphasized that successful promotion of biofertilizers technology in sustainable development depends on implementation of programs for raising awareness among the biofertilizer producers and consumers. She further added that Biofertilizers are apparently an environmentally sound and farmer friendly renewable source of low cost agro-input. She discussed at length that howgovernment purchase of large portions of biofertilizer products for distribution to farmers can ensure a continuous market for producers.  The students were highly benefitted by the insights that she provided regarding the subject matter of the workshop.
