Raipur (thestates.news) | Under the aegis of the Raipur Literature Festival, a panel discussion on the theme “The New Generation’s Cinematic World” was organized today at the Shyamlal Chaturvedi Mandap. The session featured actor Shri Satyajit Dubey, actress Ms T. J. Bhanu, MLA and noted artiste Shri Anuj Sharma, and Writer-Actor Ms Suvignya Dubey as special guests.
During the discussion, Shri Anuj Sharma said that the Chhattisgarhi language is inherently simple and intuitive, and can be made even more accessible through meaningful dialogue. He observed that the present era marks a strong and expanding role of women, with their contributions steadily increasing in both cinema and society. Elaborating on the creative process of filmmaking, he noted that while the director plays a pivotal role in cinema, theatre places the actor at the centre, and in television serials, the writer’s role is decisive. Citing renowned litterateur Late Shri Vinod Kumar Shukla, he remarked that a creator is recognized not by attire, but by the strength of one’s creations.
Actor Shri Satyajit Dubey emphasized that emotional depth is essential for any film to endure in the audience’s memory for decades. He said that Chhattisgarh possesses a rich literary tradition and an abundance of compelling stories, with the only need being encouragement for readers to engage more deeply with reading. He added that the folk life and cultural landscape of Chhattisgarh are imbued with countless narratives that can be effectively brought to life through cinema.
Actress Ms T. J. Bhanu stated that digital platforms, especially YouTube, have opened new avenues for emerging artistes. Short stories are now reaching wider audiences through multiple platforms. She observed that the joy of a journey lies not merely in reaching the destination, but in the entire process of travel. She further noted that when women take on the role of producers, they tend to be more attentive to the needs and emotions of everyone working on the set. She described visual presentation as a vital element of cinema.
Ms Suvignya Dubey said that the development of self-confidence in children should begin at home itself. She urged parents to provide children with opportunities for expression, enabling the growth of creativity and inner strength.
Sharing collective reflections on new-generation cinema, literature and the growing influence of digital media, the speakers concluded that strong storytelling, emotional resonance and social responsibility will define the direction of cinema in the years to come.
