Apart from Delhi, the capital of the country, petrol has become expensive by 5 paise in Kolkata and Mumbai. There is an increase of 6 paise per liter in Chennai. However, there was no change in the price of diesel.
According to the website of Indian Oil, the price of petrol in Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai has increased to Rs 74.86, Rs 77.54, Rs 80.51 and Rs 77.83 per liter respectively. However, the price of diesel in the four metros remains unchanged at Rs 65.78, Rs 68.19, Rs 69 and Rs 69.53 per liter respectively.
Last week, the price of crude oil in the international market fell by about $ 3 per barrel. After this, a little softening can be expected at the prices of petrol and diesel. In the February contract for the benchmark crude oil Brent crude on the international market, Intercontinental Exchange fell 3.98 percent from the previous session on Friday to close at $ 60.75 a barrel.
Brent crude closed at $ 63.39 per barrel on November 22 last week. At the same time, the January contract of American Light Crude West Texas Intermediate on the New York Mercantile Exchange slipped 4.63 percent from the previous session to close at $ 55.42 a barrel. (HS)
