Three-Day Event on Natyashastra Organized by State Cultural Affairs Department & MIT-ADT University
Pune (thestates.news) The Directorate of Cultural Affairs, Government of Maharashtra, in collaboration with the MIT-ADT University, Pune’s Theatre Department, is set to host a three-day national conference, “Rang Roopak,” from March 25 to 27 at Raj Kapoor Memorial Theatre. This event aims to promote India’s rich theatrical traditions and will feature renowned theatre directors and artists from across the country, sharing their insights. This announcement was made by Dr. Mahesh Chopde, Registrar of MIT-ADT University, and Dr. Amol Deshmukh, Program Coordinator, during a press conference.
The conference, supported by the South Central Cultural Centre, Nagpur (Govt. of India), will focus on the theme “The Role of Natyashastra in Indian Knowledge Tradition.” Prominent theatre personalities, including Padma Shri Vaman Kendre (Former Director, NSD, New Delhi), Padma Shri Bharat Gupt (Chairperson, NSD), Dr. Sandhya Purecha (Chairperson, Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi), and Padma Shri Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi (Veteran Actor & Director), will highlight the significance of ancient Natyashastra principles in contemporary theatre.
Additionally, the event will feature Padma Shri Shashadhar Acharya (Eminent Classical Dancer), Guru Shama Bhate, Dr. Sangeeta Gundecha, Piyal Bhattacharya, Dr. Gautam Charteji, Prof. Sandhya Rayate, Dr. Sudanian Kumar Mohanty, and Prasad Bhide, who will delve into various aspects of Indian theatrical traditions.

Bharatmuni’s Natyashastra is a cornerstone of Indian performing arts, encompassing theatre, drama, and performance techniques. The event will be coordinated under the leadership of Dr. Mahesh Chopde, Dr. Mukesh Sharma (Dean, Cinema & Theatre), and Abhijit Gokhale (All India Organization Minister, Sanskar Bharati).
