11 lakh saplings planted on the banks of 28 rivers so far
Raipur (The States. news) Nearly 11 lakh saplings have been planted on the banks of 28 different rivers under the “River Bank Tree Plantation” programme during the last rainy season in Chhattisgarh. As a result, 978.785 hectares of river bank area will get a facelift with increased green cover adorned with beautiful fruit bearing and flowering plants, turning the river banks aesthetically pleasing.
According to the intention of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, the work of plantation on river banks was done under the guidance of Forest and Climate Change Minister Mr. Mohammad Akbar by the department. The plantation has been done under River Bank Plantation Programme, CAMPA, MNREGA and DMF fund.
Rivers under this programme include Indravati River, Shabari River, Chakka Bukka River, Mahanadi, Pairi River, Kelo River, Ib River, Jonk River, Hasdeo River, Tandula River, Narangi River, Bhanwardih River, Atem River, Rihand River, Semarkhad River, Bhupka River and Mahanadi River. Apart from this, plantation work has also been done on the banks of Sendur River, Baran River, Moran River, Surya River, Kanhar River, Bhaisun River, Pathel River, Ubhay River, Banas River, Odari River and Doodh River.
