SECL’s OBR Crosses 250 Million Cubic Meters

Surpasses Target of 241 MCuM; Records a Growth of 6%

Bilaspur (Thestates.news), South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) has achieved a significant milestone in the financial year 2024-25, with its Overburden Removal (OBR) surpassing 250 million cubic meters. From April 2024 to December 2024, the company has removed 250.4 million cubic meters of overburden.

SECL’s Annual Action Plan (AAP) target for OBR during this period was 241 million cubic meters. By exceeding the target by 9 million cubic meters, the company has achieved 4% higher OBR than planned.

In comparison to the same period last year (April 2023 to December 2023), when SECL recorded 236.6 million cubic meters of OBR, the company has registered an impressive growth of approximately 6% this financial year.

It is noteworthy that SECL is actively promoting the use of the ripper technology for overburden removal. This green technology enables OBR without drilling or blasting, ensuring safe and environmentally friendly coal mining practices.
