Raipur (thestates.news) | Kalinga University organized a seminar on “Artificial Intelligence in Law” at the District Court, Chandrapur, Maharashtra on 13th March 2026. The programme was conducted within the court premises with the cooperation and support of the local Bar Association, which facilitated the organization of the session.
The programme was graced by several office bearers of the District Bar Association including Adv. Vikram Tandon (President, Bar Association), Adv. Aman Mayekar (Vice-President), Adv. Abhijit Kinhikar (Secretary) and Adv. Munidhar Bawankar (Treasurer). Their presence and support contributed significantly to the successful conduct of the seminar.
The seminar witnessed participation from practicing advocates and members of the legal fraternity, who showed keen interest in understanding the growing role of artificial intelligence in the legal profession. The programme aimed to highlight how technological advancements are transforming legal research, case management, evidence analysis, and judicial processes.
Dr. Paluck Sharma, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law, Kalinga University, and Ms. Vishakha Sakharkar, also an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Law at Kalinga University, delivered the expert session. They elaborated on the developing relationship between law and technology. The discussion encompassed the application of artificial intelligence in legal research, the use of predictive analytics in litigation, automation in legal drafting, and the ethical and regulatory challenges linked to the use of AI in the justice delivery system.
The discussion placed significant emphasis on the rising relevance of Artificial Intelligence in the legal domain and the imperative for legal professionals to grasp its role in contemporary judicial processes. The session brought to light the expanding application of AI-based tools in areas such as legal research, document analysis, case management, and evidence evaluation. Advocates were encouraged to familiarize themselves with the latest AI technologies that can enhance efficiency, increase accuracy, and aid in informed decision-making within today’s legal practice.
The session also addressed the topic Artificial Intelligence and Its Misuse: Legal Challenges and the Role of the Information Technology Act, 2000 (India), focusing on the legal concerns arising from the misuse of AI technologies such as deepfakes, identity theft, and digital manipulation. The discussion emphasized the need for stronger legal awareness, responsible use of AI, and effective implementation of existing cyber laws to deal with emerging technology-related offences.
Kalinga University has been consistently undertaking initiatives that create meaningful engagement between academic institutions and the judiciary. Such programmes aim to promote knowledge exchange and enhance awareness of emerging legal issues among members of the Bar and Bench.
